Marketing Society Awards for Excellence

2008 in association with Marketing

supported by Accenture

The Marketing Society Awards for Excellence lead the way in enhancing industry understanding of what marketing excellence is, and of why it is essential to the success of any business large or small.

As recognition of marketing's central role has grown, so have demands for proof of its contribution to business and for evidence of best practice. These awards, now in their 24th year, are uniquely placed to meet those demands by providing a body of knowledge that organisations can use to improve the quality and impact of their own marketing performance/s.

The Marketing Society Awards for Excellence 2008 have been updated to take account of emerging business trends. We have added an 'Ethical Marketing' category to recognise the fundamental changes many organisations are making to improve their social and environmental responsibility.

This new category is in addition to 'Not-For-Profit Marketing' and 'Cause Related Marketing'. We have created a category for 'Digital Channels/Media' in acknowledgement of the significant advances being made by online businesses and by traditional businesses harnessing digital as a sales and communications channel.

As always, the awards will be judged by a pre-eminent panel of industry judges. This year, the judges will have the opportunity to pick multiple award-winners within a single category, in recognition of different aspects of the category as well as the differing resources of small and large organisations. The judges will also be looking to award a special prize, from among the submissions, for the best example of leading-edge thinking applied to a business challenge. The eventual winners of these awards will know that their work has been evaluated by the sharpest minds in the business, and that they have triumphed over the best marketing the UK has to offer.

The opportunity to become one of those winners starts now. The Marketing Society Awards for Excellence are designed to be accessible to organisations of every size and description. The awards categories reflect strategic marketing objectives that are common to all organisations; your submissions will be judged against the marketing achievements of all types of business, rather than just those of direct competitors in your industry sector.

The awards night itself, on Monday 9 June 2008 will be an unmissable opportunity to celebrate and network with senior-level marketers and agency chiefs. For the winners, it will be the moment of glory, receiving a specially designed trophy - but winning is just the beginning. For the industry it marks the first phase in compiling a body of knowledge based on marketing excellence. The winning case studies will appear in Marketing, the UK's highest circulation industry magazine. Winning papers will be available in full as an online reference resource.
